The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. Scope of work:
The CHW/MCH Trainer/Supervisor is overall responsible for the MCH activities of the cluster and assists DPM within the field of MCH related activities. She will provide needed support to the health facilities within the cluster. She will train the MCH staff and female CHWs to assure proper utilization of the MCH services in HF and community level.
As CHW/MCH Trainer/Supervisor, she is expected to provide efficient technical support to the projects (health facilities and health posts) and ensure the successful implementation of the MCH services in HF and community level. The CHW/MCH Trainer/Supervisor will guarantee provision of quality MCH services through regular supervision, monitoring, and training of concerned staff (Midwives and female CHW) considering MoPH strategies, SCA policy and BPHS requirement
Qualifications & Requirements:
Graduated from recognized university of Medical as (MD) or midwife or community midwife.
Having at least 1-2 years of working experience in BPHS or well-recognized governmental or NGOs supported health facilities
Experience on supervision, training and monitoring of health-related projects would be an advantage
Good team player and be able to work in under pressure conditions/circumstances
Familiarity in the province and being able to travel to all districts of Wardak province to visit HF and health post
She must have good communication skills
Has the ability to write and speak local languages (Pashto, Dari) and English
Regularly supervise all concerned health activities/HPs on monthly base including (OPD, EmoC, CBHC, IMCI, Nutrition and EPI)
Follow a developed plan of actions and give early notice in case of deviations of its implementations
Supervision of MCH intervention in HFs and community level (HPs, FHAG)
Conduct training (initial and refresher) for female CHWs as well as establishment of FHAGs based on the plan
Supervise the provincial medical store and ensure quality control of medicine and equipment related to MCH
Facilitate midwives training/ technical meeting, and offer on the job training based on the need of MCH/CBHC staff at the HFs
Post training follow up of conducted MCH related trainings and appraising midwives’ performance at HFs level
To maintain an appropriate administrative system that ensure proper documentation of MCH staff, medical supply, reports and other material related to MCH activities/ services
Encourage female health workers and assist them and head of the clinic to establish female health Shura in the HFs level
Promotes gender equality, non-discrimination about ethnic, political and religious background and work to improve provision of health services to women and children
Verification of reported health data particularly Delivery, ANC, PNC, and FP in field level through direct field visit to the area to improve quality of the reported data
