Physical rehabilitation center to be constructed in Jalalabad

SCA formally laid the foundation stone of physical rehabilitation center in eastern Jalalabad city on Tuesday 31st of May. The physical rehabilitation center funded by the Swedish Post Code Lottery with 30 million Afs will be completed within two years.
The Physical rehabilitation center will be constructed in Khatiz medical complex, 6th zone Jalalabad city, on 1 700 square meter covered area. It is composed of a three story building with 47 rooms and offices which will be also used for the workshop and orthopedic workshop in SCA Disability Programme.
Provincial Governor Saleem Kunduzi, Director public health Dr. Najib Kamawal, Director labor, social affairs, martyrs and disabled Abdul Hakim Sherzad and Head of eastern regional management office Jalalabad Abdul Ahad Samoon inaugurated the construction work of the physical rehabilitation center.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Nangarhar Saleem Kunduzi appreciated SCA for its services. He said “With construction of physical rehabilitation center, problems faced by persons with disabilities will be resolved. Persons with disabilities in three eastern provinces Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar will be benefited from this physical rehabilitation center.”
Director public health Dr. Najib Kamawal said that there is a physical rehabilitation in the public health hospital in Jalalabad, but it lacks enough space.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Ahad Samoon informed media representatives of SCA history and activities. He said that SCA is actively running education, health, rural development and disability programmes in 14 provinces. Quoting SCA secretary general Anna-Karin Johansson, Mr. Samoon said that SCA will stay in Afghanistan as long as we are needed.
Director labor, social affairs, martyrs and disabled Abdul Hakim Sherzad also spoke on the occasion. He informed media about the registered persons with disabilities. According to him six thousand persons with disabilities are registered with his department.
