SCA executed projects in government schools in Nangarhar
Swedish Committee for Afghanistan executed construction and rehabilitation projects worth more than nine million Afs in the governmentc schools in eastern Nangarhar province. The project which was funded by Afghan Connection, also includes provision of students’ desks and chairs.
Afghan Connection, a European-based donor organization funds and supports schools, teachers and sports opportunities in Afghanistan.
These projects include construction of cricket pitches, volleyball grounds, painting and roof mud plaster of the school buildings.
Eng. Abdul Ahad Samoon, SCA Head of Office in Eastern region, Monday 27th of March officially handed over the donated desks and chairs to the deputy director of Education Mohammad Essa Khan in Nangarhar High School Jalalabad. SCA Education Project manager in Eastern region Mohammad Akram Abdulrahimzai and officials from education department were also presented on the occasion.
SCA donated 300 set of desks and chairs to Nangarhar high school, 120 set to Khwja Rizqullah school and 160 set to each Saracha girls’ high school and Yasin Baba girls’ high school, similarly, volleyball grounds were also constructed in these mentioned schools while a cricket pitch was constructed for disabled students.
Mohammad Faisal, a student of Nangarhar high school says, “Before we used to sit on old and damaged mats, which was making our clothes dirty, and we were unable to focus on our studies, but now we have desks and chairs which will facilitate us in studies.”
Eng. Abdul Ahad Samoon, SCA Head of Office in Eastern region, vowed to continue supporting the education sector. Deputy director of Education Mohammad Essa Khan thanked SCA for their support. He asked the students to take care of the desks and chairs and avoid damaging it.
