SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development Programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

The Warehouse Assistant is based at the warehouse at one of Regional Management Office of SCA where s/he is responsible for the daily receiving and releasing of goods and the proper and safe storage of goods. Warehouse Assistant ensures the proper follow up of daily activities in the warehouse and its staff. S/he will ensure stock reports that are timely, efficient and effective. S/he will provide updated inventory report (stock balance) to the finance and related programme/project units at end of each month.

The warehouse assistant reports to logistic officer of the Admin Unit of the RMOs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Graduates from 12 Grade is required, from a relevant college or university with a BA or BBA will be preferred
At least 2- 3 years in a similar position
ability to wok under pressure,
Honest, proactive and well mannered.
Local candidate will be preferred.

Main Responsibilities:

Act according to the policy and regulations of SCA
Develop good co-operation with SCA units
Do related job as delegated by the Logistic Officer

To supervise performance of his/her subordinates as well as of the temporary or casual laborers and advise them for the improvement of their work.
To plan his/her duty on daily/weekly basis. Make plan (schedule) for the work of his/her subordinates on daily, weekly, monthly basis.
To be fully responsible for the work at the store
To regularly check the performance of the store worker(s), and cleaners
To assist the Logistic Officer in preparation of memos, letters, etc and the proper filing and record keeping
To match the quantity of goods with purchase order
To computerize inventory list (stock records) of stores
To provide updated inventory report (stock balance) to the finance and project units at end of each month
To prepare packing list and other delivery related documents
To prepare delivery of goods from the list provided by the concerned unit
To keep informed the concern units about the receiving and withdrawal of their related goods
To guarantee the maintenance of the stock and warehouse (expiry date, cleaning, fumigation etc)
To co-ordinate supply of goods with project units and other logistic staff
To prepare approximate budget for storage and handling
