Daniel Madhani, SCA’s Country Director met today with his Excellency Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan at the Presidential Palace.
In the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Khalid Fahim, Deputy Country Director and Mr. Zemarai Saqeb, Senior Strategic Advisor to the Country Director were also present.
His Excellency was briefed on SCA’s operations across 17 provinces of Afghanistan with more than 6500 Afghan employees.
SCA is working in Afghanistan for the past 40 years under different governments maintaining its impartiality and long-term commitment to the people of Afghanistan mainly in rural and hard to reach areas.
Two million people benefit from health services and around 100.000 children (58% girls) study in SCA supported schools.
SCA provides mobility and assistive devices to 15000 persons with disabilities and around 500 persons with disabilities are provided with interest-free revolving loans to establish their businesses.
SCA also implements Citizen’s Charter National Priority Program (CCNPP) and provides clean water to thousands of rural Afghans.
His Excellency President Ghani appreciated SCA’s long-term presence in Afghanistan and termed it as a model NGO in the country.
Extending gratitude to the SCA for supporting vulnerable Afghans, President Ghani underscored the need for continuation of these supports and assistance in terms of quality education, particularly introducing information technology in this sector, focus on rural areas and carry on healthcare services.
