“We support women’s involvement in Afghanistan’s development processes,” says Humaira Ghani, SCA Senior Information Officer.

Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) believes in providing space for women’s representation that more and more women/girls are becoming visible in different areas. SCA wants women to be represented in its activities through social media to promote gender equality.
Our ambition is to have 300 more women of SCA Facebook page during a week of campaign from June 6 – 12, 2015. SCA Facebook will be updated each day with a message that either invites more women/girls like SCA on Facebook or encourages men to invite their wife, daughters or friends to like SCA page.
The goal is that after a week of campaigning the proportion of women grow to 833 in 26 percent, or to have increased with 300 individuals.
“So all you girls and women out there, if you are not already following SCA on Facebook, please Look for Swedish Committee for Afghanistan on Facebook and press “Like”. It will not change the whole world but has great symbolic value.”
“I believe that having more female followers on SCA Facebook page will not only give them the opportunity to share their ideas about SCA activities, but it will also raise women’s awareness about development processes in Afghanistan,” adds Humaira.
SCA stands up for equality between women/girls and men/boys. Through this campaign to get more women to follow us on Facebook we will in an amusing way show what we stand for gender equality and in the meantime we show that SCA is an organization that has a modern way to communicate.
Social media has become increasingly important for all actors in communication worldwide and making its place in Afghanistan as well.
