SCA provides vocational trainings for people with disabilities

In Ghazni, Paktika and Maidan Wardak provinces, at total of 30 women and 30 men with disabilities will be provided skills trainings in different groups by the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan.

Skills like tailoring, bag sewing, motorbike mechanics, and mobile repairing are the subjects which will be taught to the PwDs (people with disabilities) in eight months.

For each group, one professional vocational trainer and one literacy teacher is recruited, and female trainers are recruited for training female trainees.

Mrs. Sajaro, one of the women with disabilities who has one leg amputation, says: “I am the caretaker of my family. Due to a mine explosion, I lost my husband and made me disabled as well, however, I can sew female dresses; because disability can never prevent me from learning a skill. I am thankful from the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan that paves the ground for poor women like me to learn skills.”

Raw materials for the aforesaid skills training is provided by the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan as well, so that the trainees could have practical practicing sessions.

The good thing about these trainings are that the trainees are trained practically in the field, as an example mobile and motorbike trainee are trained by a professional repairer during the day.
