The Other Side of Gender Inequality: Men and Masculinity in Afghanistan

News Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) and Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) jointly launched research on masculinity phenomena in Afghanistan called “The Other Side of Gender Inequality: Men and Masculinity in Afghanistan”. This research which was financially supported by SCA was conducted by the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit -an independent research organization aiming at an in-depth understanding of various notions of being an Afghan man and its contribution to gender inequality.

Lack of midwives causes more death than terrorism

News “More Afghan women have died due to not having access to health facilities during pregnancy and delivery than terrorism. The rate of civilian causalities in terrorist attacks are more than 3000 death that 298 are women. While the rate of maternal mortality in a year is more than 4000. News Muqadas is working as Community Based School teacher of Mardarah School in Kishim district of Badakhshan. Muqadas joined Swedish Committee for Afghanistan’s (SCA) CBS in 2006, and since last two years she is working as head of teachers in this school.

Persons with disabilities to initiate self-employment

News Swedish Committee for Afghanistan trained 121 persons with disabilities including 50 females in several vocational courses in Ghazni, Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces. Funded by the SCA with nearly seven million Afs, the vocational courses included tailoring, carpentry and furniture making.
